My local church has a choir who sing with breathtaking beauty – to hear them in full voice is a truly spiritual experience. One of their number is a cancer survivor, and she’s convinced that singing played a big part in helping her beat the disease. No one can say for sure if that’s really true, but highquality choral singing is pretty strenuous stuff, and there’s more and more evidence that exercise can play a role in fighting cancer. Letter Of The Week I read with interest your article about migraines (22 August). I was 12 years old when I first got one - the teacher ‘disappeared’ and black and white zigzag lines crossed my eyes. I got home from school and my mother called the doctor. After four days, I recovered. I am now 85 years old and fortunately the attacks are getting fewer – about every three to four months now, instead of every month. To ‘give back’ I now give talks to new medical students at two different hospitals about them.
