Spring is just around the corner and, as you prepare to get outdoors and into the garden, spare a thought for hibernating animals.
Hedgehogs, dormice, bats, frogs, newts and toads, butterflies, snakes and slow-worms all hibernate in the UK from October to April. And, while animals such as foxes, badgers and birds do not, there’s still plenty you can do to help them as the weather turns warmer. It will help your mental health, too, as being out in nature and watching wildlife have their own proven health benefits.
Supporting animals like hedgehogs, whose numbers are dwindling, can really make a difference. There are simple things you can do in your garden to help all the wildlife that’s emerging in the springtime, as their needs are often very similar.
