They want to refer me to a gynaecologist, but I really don’t want a hysterectomy, not least because I’m 49 and I’m hoping that my periods will stop soon anyway. When the Princess of Wales revealed in March that she’d been diagnosed with cancer aged 42, people across the country felt a great deal of sympathy for the young wife and mother-of-three.
