‘ It’s a sign of weakness’

Growing up, I never saw my dad cry, even when his own dad died. Although we were a family of three girls, we also weren’t encouraged to be outwardly emotional. It was the same when I met my husband, Nicholas. He may have shed a tear at the births of our children, Bunnie, seven, Abrey, six, Lenny, four, and 10-week-old Vince, but crying is not something we openly champion in our home.
I consider crying as a sign of weakness and that’s what I teach my kids, especially Abrey, who is sensitive and cries more than I’d like.
