Too young for a smear test? Q My daughter is 22 and tells me that she has been bleeding between periods for the last three cycles. She asked her GP for a smear but he refused saying the lab wouldn’t process it if she is under 25. Surely that can’t be correct? A In England, cervical screening is offered from the age of 25, so her GP is right in that the laboratory wouldn’t process a screening request in a younger woman, but that doesn’t mean we can ignore her symptoms.
