For as long as I can remember, I’ve always worked. I had a Saturday job in a hairdresser’s from the age of 11, washing people’s hair. I’ve delivered newspapers, babysat, worked for a telecommunications company, a catalogue company, even run a pub. Some of the jobs I hated, but as long as I could pay my way that’s all that mattered.
