‘I wish I’d huggedher tighter’ My daughter, Addie, was always so full of energy. From the moment she was born, in September 2006, she’d never lie still, wriggling around in her cot. And by the time she could walk, aged one, she’d toddle after her big brother, Alec, then six.
The older she got, the more she’d tear around the house – and no cough or cold would ever stop her. She’d battle through anything if it meant she could play in the garden a little longer.
But then, one afternoon in August 2011, she started being sick. At first my husband, Darrell, and I put it down to a tummy bug, but the next day, Addie, then four, complained of dizziness and a headache, too.
