Sitting on her hospital bed, my 12-year-old daughter Megan was singing, at the top of her voice, ‘I’m looosing all my haaaaair,’ fitting the words to the tune of Walking In The Air.
My husband David, then 42, and our two daughters, Anna, 15, and Rosie, 10, couldn’t help laughing. It was just like Megan to be facing even the most difficult of times with a sense of humour.
For Megan was fighting a bone cancer called osteosarcoma. David and I were completely devastated. ‘But the doctors are going to get rid of the tumour,’I explained to Megan, being careful not to use the word ‘cancer’.
