A “completely rocked” Prince William is trying to keep stoic for his family and has “vowed to not leave Kate’s side”, as the Princess of Wales continues to battle a mystery illness in hospital, a royal source tells Woman’s Day. “This has been a huge wake-up call for him, seeing her so vulnerable. Normally she’s the rock-solid strong one who’s always got his back. No one ever expects to be enduring long hospital stays in their 40s,” a source tells of William, who is fitting the school run in around hospital visits to see Kate. Issuing a media statement on Thursday, Kensington Palace revealed that Kate, 42, is in hospital recovering after “planned surgery” to treat an unspecified but non-cancerous abdominal condition. Just 90 minutes after it was confirmed Kate was in hospital recovering from surgery, Buckingham Palace announced King Charles will be facing a health battle of his own this week. “In common with thousands of men each year, the King has sought treatment for an enlarged prostate,” the statement read, adding that while his condition is benign, “his public engagements will be postponed for a short period of recuperation”. While the timing of the announcement has left many scratching their heads, royal insiders insist Charles wanted to go public in the hope that men, particularly those over the age of 50, will go for a check-up. The operation usually has a three-to-four-week recovery time, however the palace admitted it could be “several weeks” before the King returns to his duties.…

Its luxurious feel means notable figures such as former US President John F Kennedy and acting royalty Elizabeth Taylor travelled across the country in the 1940s and 1960s to be treated there. And perhaps most famously, Prince Philip stayed there in 2013 where he underwent abdominal surgery, just like Kate.…
