When Gold Logie-winning actor Samuel Johnson’s funny and feisty sister Connie was diagnosed with cancer for a third time at the age of 33, Samuel decided the disease had stolen enough lives. So, in 2013, he unicycled around Australia and, with Connie, founded Love Your Sister – his “cancer vanquishing charity”, which has raised almost $20 million for cancer research.
Since Connie passed away in 2017, Samuel and the LYS team have built a village of people whose lives have been touched by cancer.
One of those members is Cameron Nugent, a Melbourne actor, scriptwriter and film-maker, who is raising $100,000 for LYS. In a gruelling feat named “To Lorne With Love”, Cameron has just run 150km nonstop from Melbourne to Lorne on the Great Ocean Road.
