Royal news QUEEN MARGRETHE'S HISTORIC DECISION Denmark's Queen Margrethe has made the bold decision to remove the prince and princess titles from four of her grandchildren – and not everybody is happy.
In a shock announcement last week, the palace declared the children of the queen's second son, Prince Joachim, 53, will no longer have their titles or be able to use His or Her Royal Highness. Nikolai, 23, Felix, 20, Henrik, 13, and Athena, 10, will instead be known as His Excellency Count of Monpezat or Her Excellency Countess of Monpezat come 2023.

In a statement, Margrethe, 81, said she wanted her grandchildren to “be able to shape their own lives to a much greater extent without being limited by the special considerations and duties”.
