As a family of six kids, with me the youngest, our Christmas gift giving has taken on many forms. There’s been Kris Kringle, kids only, the year of the famous “rumble” (an all-in grab for presents) and the year of the “non-material gift” (I spent all day doing pedicures!). But we also have a tradition of donating to a charity. This year, I’m voting for the Katrina Dawson Foundation on the anniversary of the Sydney Lindt Cafe siege. Throughout the year we’ve become friends with siege survivor Harriette Denny, who welcomed her baby Billie in June. Jess Marais has just received the best present any mum could ask for. She’s been reunited with her daughter, after spending most of the past year locked in a battle with ex James Stewart over who would be primary carer of their three-year-old daughter Scout. James was living with Scout in Queensland while Jess was forced to stay in Sydney for work. She tried to keep her trip under wraps, but eagle-eyed fans were delighted to see Princess Mary and her family when they stepped out in WA last week. The Australian-born royal jetted into Perth, together with her husband, Denmark’s Crown Prince Frederik, and the couple’s four children – Christian, 10, Isabella, eight, and four-year-old twins Josephine and Vincent.
