One of the worst things about travel is the hours spent sardined into planes and trains and being overcharged for taxis. This is why I love cruising – you still have to get from A to B, but you do it while sleeping, eating, dancing, laughing and having the knots massaged out of your back. There’s no waiting around, no sitting at the airport for hours and no cramped seats. It’s bliss. Initially, the idea of cruising the Mediterranean solo filled me with apprehension. Sure, a cruise is a very easy way to see a decent chunk of the Continent, but sailing around Italy, France and Spain is just so, well, romantic.
