Q+A
While they’ve both been in the industry for decades, Oscar-winning actresses Natalie Portman and Julianne Moore have never starred together in a movie.
May December, directed by Far From Heaven and Carol’s Todd Haynes, follows a star actress (played by Natalie) who meets the woman she is set to play in a film (Julianne). It’s loosely inspired by the story of Mary Kay Letourneau, a teacher who, at the age of 34, began an affair with her student, Vili Fualaau, who was just 12.
Talking to Woman’s Day, Natalie, 42, and Julianne, 62, reveal how this latest project came about, how they prepared for their roles and what it was like working together for the first time...
Congratulations on the new film! How did you both prepare to play…
