A short drive will bring you to Walden Pond (pictured above), where you can swim, go for a walk or take in writer/philosopher Henry David Thoreau’s cabin in the woods. Steeped in history, the surrounding area includes the Minute Man National Historic Park, where the first battle of the Revolutionary War was fought, and Orchard House, the preserved Civil War-era home of Louisa May Alcott that was the setting for her famed novel, Little Women.
