Aussie swimming star Michael Klim has revealed he is suffering from a rare autoimmune disorder that has left him with little to no feeling in his feet. In 2019, the two-time Olympic gold medallist (who also boasts five Commonwealth Games golds) was diagnosed with chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP) – an incurable condition in which the body “is eating its own tissue”, he tells The Project. “In my case, it’s eating the outside of my nerves.” As a result, Klim is no longer able to walk unassisted. “I’ve had special orthotics and braces fitted,” he told The Sunday Telegraph. “Without them I can’t walk and need a walking stick.” While the 44-year-old admits he has had a tough time processing his diagnosis, he says his DJ partner, Michelle Owen, has…
