The International Bomber Command Centre (IBCC) in Lincoln is appealing for volunteers around the world to help compile, photograph and geo-locate memorials to members of RAF Bomber Command.
The Memorials Project started in 2017 and has now successfully recorded all known memorials to Bomber Command in the UK, covering Bomber Command's entire existence (1936–1968), including stained-glass windows, sculptures and plaques.
It has created 190,000 records altogether, which have been inputted into the IBCC Losses Database (https://internationalbcc.co.uk/history/losses-database/).
The next step is to capture memorials in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Eire, France, Germany, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Sweden and Switzerland, so volunteers are sought in these countries.
Please email info@internationalbcc.co.uk with “Memorials” in the subject line for details.…
