Family history site Findmypast (findmypast.co.uk) has added a collection of 300,000 photos that were taken in 1860–1970.
The photographs are from the collections of Francis Frith & Co, a photographic souvenir business that was founded by Francis Frith in 1860.
They include pictures of more than 9,000 British cities, towns and villages, as well as Egypt, Canada, France, Germany, Gibraltar, Hawaii, Italy, the Netherlands, Switzerland and the USA.
John Buck, managing director of the Francis Frith Collection, said, “Francis Frith’s legacy to us is a national photographic archive without equal. It is a remarkable and unique photographic record of Britain over 110 years of change.”
