Cornwall Record Office and the Cornish Studies Library are now closed as collections are moved to Kresen Kernow, which opens in September 2019. It is housed on a former brewery site in Redruth, and will include a café, learning rooms, exhibition spaces and research facilities. Holdings include parish and nonconformist registers (particularly Methodist), family and estate collections, 65,000 probate records, and collections relating to businesses and industries. Mining material includes cost books with details of miners’ jobs and pay, accounts, correspondence, letters, plans and photographs. The Cornish Studies Library collection includes books, journals, photos, census returns, parish register copies and transcripts, trade directories, newspapers, periodicals and maps.
