The London borough of Barnet was created in 1965 from parts of Middlesex and Hertfordshire. Here you can access a collection of documents dating back to around 1600, including census material, council minutes, directories, electoral registers, local newspapers, parish registers, rate books, maps and photographs. There is a research service (up to 30 minutes free, then £30 per hour), and you can explore some of the images held here via Barnet Borough Photos (boroughphotos.org/barnet).
