MARAUDERS SENT TO ASSIZES
At Boston yesterday, George Clarke and John Middleton, of no fixed abode, were committed for trial at the Lincolnshire Assizes on a charge of breaking into the club house of the Boston Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, Spilsby-road, and stealing various articles on the night of the 22nd.
When arrested at midnight near Bargate Bridge by Sergeant Adlard, the prisoners were carrying a bag which was found to contain the following property: a clock, a gentleman’s rainproof coat, lady’s rainproof coat, three hair brushes, two combs, a carving knife and steel, pair of gentleman’s goloshes, two sets of croquet balls, 22 tennis balls, a pound of tea, some slab cake, sponge cake, and biscuts.
