The lighting company Artemide was founded in 1960 by Ernesto Gismondi and is based in Pregnana Milanese. Its hallmarks are innovation, technological research, dialogue with great architects, and an interest in society and culture. Its top products are the Tizio lamp, designed by Richard Sapper in 1972; and the Tolomeo, designed by Michele de Lucchi and Giancarlo Fassina in 1986.
