Boasting a fully self-contained Airbnb that occupies one end of the property, Makin Homes Pty Ltd built this incredible, large skillion home with great, open outdoor living arrangements, an extra workshop and beautiful, high ceilings. With a central hallway from the open plan living area to the Airbnb, Makin Homes Pty Ltd made maximum use of the feature hallway to access the two bedrooms, the bathroom and the laundry. This single-storey home had to have clean and modern lines as the first and foremost design feature, on display throughout the property. Second priority in the brief was to facilitate a section of the property for an Airbnb, located at the front, with its own carpark and courtyard area. Building the home around an existing pool area, Hycraft Homes has created a house that emphasises lightness and brightness, filled with quality finishes. The clients were extremely happy with the final product, which features a separate office and spaces designed for kids and adults alike. Bricks, timber and fibre cement cladding were the primary materials used, provided by Axon. One of the challenges that the team encountered during construction was the poorly built western side of the property, so the footings had to be repaired to improve the home. The client’s theatre room was a modest-sized room (4.7m x 3.9m), and having only 48 cubic meters to work with, the team at West Coast Hifi Joondalup & East Perth had a challenge on its hands turning this space into the ideal room for hosting family movie night or entertaining friends. The room contains a premium 120-inch projector screen and has a Doly Atmos reference level of 5.4.4, meaning that in total there are five JBL Synthesis SCL Series in-wall speakers, plus four overhead speakers and four in-wall subwoofers to achieve the optimal sound pressure level.
