Human activity is causing a rapid increase in changes to the global climate which heavily contributes to extreme weather conditions, such as flooding due to the melting ice caps, hurricanes, storms and wildfires. With the burning of fossil fuels for electricity, heat and transportation, carbon dioxide is being released into the atmosphere. Over the years, carbon emissions have caused the temperature of the world to dramatically increase, which amplifies natural weather conditions and causes disasters.
In 2020, Western Australia contributed 81.7 million tonnes of CO2-equivalent to national emissions. Western Australia’s rising energy emissions are causing damage to the world, however, with the right steps implemented, this can be turned around.
