It’s a weird fact of life, but the vast majority of people you’ll meet throughout your lifetime will be pessimists, rather than optimists. Me? I’m a glass half-full kind of bloke, always have been, but I’ve found that most people swing towards the gloomy side. It’s almost as if they take more pleasure in trying to deter someone (especially me) from doing something than actually giving any encouragement. “Oooh, you really don’t want to do that,” and “I did that, and really hated it.” And so on and so forth.
