’67 Panel Van, Mark Newton Hi Camper&Bus, here are some pictures of my 1967 Panel Van. It originally lived in Alaska before moving to Florida. Fortunately for the Bus, the previous owner told me that he bought it from an airman who stored it in a hanger for a bunch of years, which explains why it’s not a total rot box. Whether that story is true or not I don’t know, but there is a Fairbanks Alaska shop sticker on the engine shroud and the prior title is from Alaska. I am not a fan of the side scoops and I have a stock motor, but given that it’s hotter and sweatier than the surface of the sun in Tampa during the 11 months of summer, I am keeping them.…

Beach Dubbin’- the ultimate V-Dub show by the beach - is organised by Charlotte Cox, Dave Western and their team. The show is effectively a continuation of the previous, highly-successful Beach Buggin’ event. This Bus has had quite a colourful history since it was found rotting in a Swedish forest in the early ’90s, and was saved by renowned VW enthusiast, Jonas Uhland. Jonas took the Bus to the vintage meeting at Bad Camberg in Germany back in 1995 where it caused quite a stir (after all, it was a right-hand drive ’54). In fact, it was a photograph taken at that event that sparked the interest of the next owner, David A. Fuentes, who fell in love with the Deluxe and organised to purchase it and have it shipped to his workshop in the USA. Often accused of being a temperamental and troublesome purchase if you get the wrong one, the VW Transporter T5 (2004 – 2015) is one of the easiest VW Vans to live with since Ben Pon first scribbled his sketch in the pub (we hope!) that fateful day. PALEYFEST Hi Camper&Bus, my new wife Fran and I own a Beetle, a Split Screen and a VW motorhome and in the summer months love attending VW shows. Shortly after moving house, we got engaged and began planning our wedding for the following summer.
