Since we’ve been spending more time than ever indoors, it’s also meant, for a lot of people, more time with family. And in front of the TV is the one place we can all gather. I have three kids, two in college and one in high school, and we recently rewatched all the Harry Potter movies over the holidays. Whenever we’re together, we’ll also catch up on NBC’s Saturday Night Live (on Sunday morning, of course) or even rewatch The Office. But it’s not always easy to settle on shows that everyone can enjoy as a group—shows appealing to grandparents and grandchildren or to parents with their teens. Connecticut state archaeologist Dr. Nick Bellantoni (below) spearheads an investigation into New England’s 19thcentury “vampire exhumations.” As families were ravaged by a series of slow deaths and desperate to save remaining loved ones, some chose to dig up the bodies of their recently deceased to look for blood in their vital organs. Displaying a collective amnesia so common to broadcast networks, a new wave of wobbly comedic star vehicles once again proves a painful point: that sitcoms are often better at creating new stars than at repackaging familiar faces.
