THE NEW TV season is underway as fresh series jockey for position against fan favorites in yet another high-stakes rumble for ratings. TELL ME A STORY SERIES PREMIERE WEDNESDAY, OCT. 31 New York’s concrete jungle stands in for the deep dark woods on Tell Me a Story. The show, from executive producer Kevin Williamson (The Vampire Diaries), takes three classic fairy tales and reimagines them as interwoven contemporary crime dramas that play out over 10 episodes. LIKE SANDS THROUGH the hourglass… Days of Our Lives lost one of its brightest stars on October 7 when longtime cast member Peggy McCay died of natural causes. The actress, 90, played feisty and loving matriarch Caroline Brady on the NBC soap for more than three decades, beginning in February 1983. “She was a friend, an activist and a real scrapper… and how she loved being Caroline!” costar Deidre Hall (Dr. Marlena Evans) wrote on Facebook. Now that she’s back at work as a reporter and fighting anti-alien Earthlings, the show feels as if it has found its groove—and very human heart—again. Cheers to Netflix’s Super Monsters for being super! Sure they’re the spawn of classic horror’s A-listers, but the only things Drac and his supernatural squad are conjuring in this cheeky, colorful series are life lessons about honesty and acceptance, aimed squarely at pre-schoolers.
