It’s a thought-provoking question… why do we quilt? In his new book, Why We Quilt, Thomas Knauer explores what motivates us to make quilts – for art, activism, community and creativity: “We no longer need quilts to stay warm or to survive harsh winters, but quilts may well fill other, less material, needs.” He’s invited 40 contemporary makers, mainly from the USA, to share their stories and their quilts in a book, which will engross you for many hours as you delve into this complex theme.
