Star Letter FRIENDS FOREVER Here’s a photo stitch that I’ve just finished and wanted to show you. This is my best friend Jessie. I rescued her in April 2007 when she was 10 months old. I took this photo of her not long after her 15th birthday, but very sadly Jessie died when she was 16 years old. Losing her has broken my heart. We shared so many wonderful and happy years together and life just isn’t the same without her. This cross stitch took me 11 months and I’ve enjoyed doing it. Get to know the different types of needles Many stitchers think a tapestry needle is all you need for cross stitch, but it actually pays to have a small collection of different needles in your stash. Let’s look at some of the different types and what they’re used for: Tapestry Tapestry needles, or ‘cross stitch’ needles, have a blunt round point, rather than a sharp one. They’re designed for all types of counted thread work, as the blunt end allows you to lightly run the needle over the fabric until it finds a hole in the weave for the stitch – ideal for using with aida and evenweave fabric, as well as canvas and perforated paper.
