THE 10th issue of Railway Statistics now published shows that during the month of September last, the number of passengers (exclusive of season-ticket holders) conveyed by the railways in Great Britain was 127,180,216, or 7.2% more than in the corresponding period of 1919.
The number of workmen carried was 35,726,852 or 28.09% of the total. Freight traffic carried during the four weeks ended October 10 amounted to 27,006,843 tons, an increase of 266,931 tons, or 1% compared with the preceding four weeks. As regards rolling-stock, the number of new locomotives put into traffic during the past year to October 10, was 321, against which must be set 229 locomotives condemned.
