How did design happen to you? It was a disease for sure. Others wanted to be pilots, fire fighters and astronauts, but in my mind, architecture was stuck like a disease. Do you think that your design influence comes from the country you belong to? Not completely. I believe in universal culture and people who live inside these beautiful towns. Of course there are many towns in the world I really admire like Tokyo, Hongkong, Jaipur and New York, but I feel for every city equally when I am visiting them. Your humble beginnings? I first saw glass blowing when I was eight years old. I immediately fell in love with the process, teamwork, and creation of this magical material. I trained with the youngest maestro coming out of Europe at that time, Martin Janecky, and with him I ended up at Chihuly Studios. I worked in the antiques trade for a long time, and while antiques are beautiful they don’t really work as functional pieces in today’s homes, they’re not relevant. I wanted to honour that same hand-craftsmanship and authenticity, design pieces that are relevant for today. What makes your furniture special?
