Since his 1995 Sundance breakout The Brothers McMullen, writer-director-star Edward Burns has made small, character-driven films and a short-lived TV show, TNT’s Public Morals. His new work, Epix’s Bridge and Tunnel, is a nostalgia-bathed coming-of-age dramedy series set on Long Island circa 1980. It should have been a movie: Somewhere in these six half-hour episodes, there’s a pleasurably lowkey 85-minute feature just waiting to be excavated.
