Much ado was made of Netflix’s FYSee space in Beverly Hills, where for a month in May the streamer took over a 24,000-square-foot space and filled it with ephemera, costumes and props from its now-Emmy-nominated series Stranger Things, House of Cards, Master of None, Grace and Frankie, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and, ahem, crown jewel The Crown.
While competing series and studios cried foul — the FYSee space hosted several screenings, panel discussions and soirees on the same nights as TV Academy-sanctioned For Your Consideration events — voters and fans of the Netflix shows nonetheless were able to immerse themselves in the worlds created by each. Amazon staged a similar campaign space, but it ran for only a week (the streamer netted zero series noms).
