In the very first issue of The Global Filipino Magazine, we’re excited to launch a new set of flavors to the Filipino community in the Middle East by telling the story of their success and highlighting their skills and inspiring others in all formats--in print online and via mobile devices, thus calling them ‘Global Filipinos.’ As the editor-in-chief and publisher of the newest magazine in the Gulf region, it is an honor to have this instrument used to further boost Filipinos’ morale through quality content. FILIPINA warrior Dr. Sharon Dreisbach shared her own formula to beat the second deadliest cancer in the world. She is an Assistant Professor at Skyline University College and has been living in the Gulf region for over a decade now. She was diagnosed with breast cancer last October 2015 and with the right thing on how to deal with it, she was to be cancer-free in less than a year. Dr. Sharon first faced her battle by accepting it and thinking of it as a ‘blessing’. She thought that the Almighty God has plans and reasons why she was diagnosed with the deadly condition. JUST like any normal Filipinos abroad, Jeanelyn Jarder or ‘Ji’, as known in the Filipino community, she has first experienced the valley of tears or the sorrows of life.
