Sansevierias are tough, drought-tolerant succulents with leathery leaves held in rosettes. They produce offsets (suckers) around the parent rosette, forming large clumps over a period of time. Each rosette dies off slowly after flowering, but this is not noticeable due to the proliferation of younger plantlets. These extremely versatile plants grow in sun or shade, indoors and outdoors, in the garden or in pots, and withstand neglect better than most.
