When Gavin Houghton bought his four-storey Victorian terraced house in London 15 years ago, it was a far cry from the comfortable, characterful home it is today. It had been divided up into a collection of bedsits and was in desperate need of care and attention. “Restoring the original layout was easy as, aside from recently adding a fourth floor for a spare bedroom into the attic, I did not want to change its structural character,” remembers Gavin.
