Claire Greenslade, head gardener at Hestercombe Gardens in Somerset, reveals some of her favourites, from half-hardy annuals to hardy perennials, and a couple of climbers, too. Many of these thrive in the 50-acre grounds at Hestercombe, which, recently restored, include a Georgian landscape garden, Victorian shrubbery and the Gertrude Jekyll and Edwin Lutyens-designed formal garden. Also look out for the Grade I listed orangery and ornate flower beds.
