Shortly after her retirement, Heather Wanamaker moved from Long Island, N.Y., to Bluffton, S.C. At first, the artist lived in an end-unit carriage home, which didnât really offer the necessary studio space. âIt was too small, and natural light was sorely lacking,â she says. Five years later, however, Wanamaker embarked on a project: a custom-built home in the same community. The primary motivation and design driver was the additional studio space.
âMy daughter is an architect, and my best friend an interior designer, and I knew what I needed, so together we set out to create the perfect home for an artist,â she says.
