From its headwaters at Ellicott Rock, the point where North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia meet, the Savannah River wriggles its way southeast toward the Atlantic. The navigable portion of the river stretches from Augusta, Georgia, to the Atlantic Ocean, in the region known as the Central Savannah River Area (CSRA). Just south of Augusta lies the town of Waynesboro, Bird Dog Capital of the World and home to Byne Blueberry Farm, the first commercial blueberry operation in the CSRA.
