Apple-Cranberry Grains
I made some changes to my diet to lose weight. My kids are skeptical when it comes to healthy food, but they adore these wholesome grains.

2 medium apples, peeled and chopped1 cup sugar1 cup fresh cranberries½ cup wheat berries½ cup quinoa, rinsed½ cup oat bran½ cup medium pearl barley½ cup chopped walnuts½ cup packed brown sugar1½ to 2 tsp. ground cinnamon6 cups waterOptional toppings: Milk, sliced apples, dried cranberries and chopped walnuts
In a 4- or 5-qt. slow cooker, combine first 11 ingredients. Cook, covered, on low for 4-5 hours or until grains are tender. Serve with toppings as desired.
