When the news hits us and takes us by surprise we’re jerked out of that strange numbness which till that moment held our minds in its clasp when we feel nothing unpleasant can possibly happen, well that’s precisely when we suddenly realize how much could have been accomplished to avoid disaster. Leopard Yachts is just one of the many historic Italian shipyards which took the brunt and consequences of the lengthy recession which entrapped them in the course of the second decade of the Millenium has finally broken free. Conceived as a pillar by Cantiere Navale Arno founded in 1935 which launched the first Leopard back in 1973. This 15 metre long wood built model was drawn up on Paolo Caliari’s drawing board. In 1984 the first GRP model was launched instead. By 2000 150 models were launched some of them with an LOA of 24 metres to which a further 150 models were built at the new premises along the Canale dei Navicelli di Pisa. Palumbo Superyachts brand Columbus Yachts has recently revealed the new Atlantique range made up of elegant and versatile models. The first model of the series will be composed by three yachts of diverse sizes is the Atlantique 43 metre designed by Hot Lab according to “Architecture for Voyagers” philosophy and consequently developed to bring together stylistic and project concepts that suit, and deliver total enjoyment for the length of time spent on board. As for the aesthetics, Hot Lab was very much inspired by sailing ships of times gone. Now the aft section in the stern sports a grand panoramic swimming pool which is only inches away from the sea. Rosetti Superyachts has recently added a further new entry to its RSY range with the new 55 metre Support Vessel which slots into this expanding niche market. The project design work dedicated to this 55 metre stems from Gruppo Rosetti’s experience in the construction of working vessels and was carried out with Sergio Cutolo’s Hydro Tec. “Our 55m Support Vessel, conceived in collaboration with Hydrotec, embodies the DNA of Rosetti Marino’s experience in the naval sector, offering the market a more comfortable and refined version of a commercial vessel, while preserving core safety features and reliability at sea,” said Ermanno Bellettini, President and CEO of Rosetti Superyachts. To handle the new Ayrton series of ISA Yachts brand, Palumbo Superyachts asked Enrico Gobbi’s Team for Design to contribute to the project which they did with a design inspired by formula 1 motor cars and something else inspired by jet planes’ designs. Other models are will be following namely the 50 and 70 metres ones. The ISA Ayr-ton 63 metre sports stylistic elements borrowed from nature like the five transversal window like panels in the owner’s suite which recall fishes gills, while the alignment of the stern sections of the decks recall jets’ designs. Chromed metal grey details and the integrated lighting system highlights the yacht’s shapes.
