Sanlorenzo’s partnership with Zuccon International Project has catapulted it again to the top ranks of the international yachting world. This Italian design studio which also handles Bluegame shipyard’s yachts is nearly ‘on par’ with Sanlorenzo proper in terms of quality. Zuccon has also developed the Asymmetric SL102 and SL96 models for this north Italian brand from La Spezia. Columbus Yachts 40 Crossover is the entry level of a range of explorer models which include a 50 and a 57 metre yacht as well designed by Columbus Yachts (brand name of Gruppo Palumbo) with precious input from Sergio Cutolo’s Hydro Tec. Cantiere delle Marche has recently launched 39.37 metre “Aurelia” the first unit of the new Flexplorer range. Sergio Cutolo’s Hydro Tec sports handled the project design work of the exteriors while Francesco Paszkowski and Margherita Casprini delivered the interior decor and layout. “Aurelia” has four large cabins, two VIP and a double are situated on the lower deck. Over the past ten years we have seen large planing yachts, displacing small ships ‘navette’ which preceded ‘explorer ‘ models and more recently ‘Crossovers’. In the wake of the GTT 160’s success, Dynamiq Yachts has recently presented the GTT 165 their new flagship which to some extent takes after Van Oossanen’s renowned fast displacing yachts with his Hull Vane technology and Vector stabilizer fins by Side Power. In the course of a virtual press conference held on December 2nd, Benetti presented two new projects: the Motopanfilo 37M and the FB284. The first is an elegant modern looking motor yacht which takes after Benetti’s motor yachts of the sixties but without being a modern day’s restyling exercise. This past season has been one to remember for Benetti since it has launched and delivered numerous Class and custom builds. “Luminosity” measuring 107.6 metres is one of them. San Giorgio del Porto is a modern but traditional shipyard part of the Genova Industrie Navali Holding company. Wooden Boats from Viareggio has recently presented custom built WB27 limousine tender for the owner of a Sanlorenzo 52 Steel “KD”. This model explicitly shows the yard’s “made to measure” capacity. It will be followed by another 10 metre “tailor made” model for an explorer. WB27’s main feature is this tender’s design aft in the stern area which is proud to sport the same rear lights installed into the Bentley Mulsanne, as requested by the owner. Cantiere Delle Marche’s Flexplorer programme is getting more and more successful with another recently sold to a wealthy expert German owner who’s already enjoyed diverse sailing yachts and motor yachts. His priorities are to cruise Mediterranean waters first followed by crossing the North West Passage. The owner turned to CDM for the experience it has in the explorer field for which it is internationally known and which is generally very strict in terms of standards. The Apex 850 is an incredible sloop even if it is not the first modern yacht built by this Dutch shipyard, it still represents another step in the right direction for Royal Huisman in terms of design and technologic solutions. After the positive responses with model T-4, Seanfinity yard presented model T- 5 in the course of the latest international boat show in Genoa. Two versions of this latest model are currently being built. One will be motorised with a diesel only while the other version will be sporting outboard petrol engines. By comparison to the T-4 tender, the T-5 offers greater liveability with two doubles and a bathroom with shower unit thereby extending its range beyond the tender concept by becoming a weekender for two couples or for a family with children. The technical launch of Tankoa’s aluminium alloy 50 metre “Olokun” designed by Francesco Paszkowski with interior decor by Casadio Miami/London studio was carried out in Genoa. This model’s layout is similar to the two preceding yachts’ with fold down terraces into the owner’s suite along the bow segment of main deck, a side-loading tender garage in the stern and a grand beach club. Construction on motoryacht DOM133 is proceeding. This is the second model of the DOM line initialled by Stefano Vafiadis for Baglietto. This 40 metre long yacht is the largest of the line and has been built to cross oceans. Just like the preceding “Vanadis” the first Italian yacht to have obtained “Hybrid Power” certification from Lloyd’s Register, DOM133 is powered by Hybrids set up parallel to traditional Diesels, electric engines and batteries giving way to multiple choices in terms of diverse configurations and types of engines. After the sale of its Oceanic 140’ Fast Expedition Yacht, Canados shipyard also announced that the first unit of the Oceanic Yachts 140’ Tri-deck the Fast Expedition line’s flag ship is nearing completion. This is a great result for the Rome based Canados shipyard and because it consolidates its brand’s standing which is dedicated to oceanic explorers and because it is Canados’s largest build so far.
