Codecasa has begun building a new 58 metre, construction C127 “on spec” which has been scheduled for delivery in Spring 2023. The yacht has been designed by the yard’s in house project design team led by Gianluca Imeri and Pierluigi Ausonio’s studio. The Dutch Vanquish Yachts shipyard is known for the exclusive runabouts it builds from 40 to 48 feet. It has recently come up with the innovative VQ16 which is a sort of hybrid half way between a power boat and a watercraft - but is much bigger than a jet ski. Just a few years from Silent yacht’s 80’ Silent debut, the Austrian company decided to update its flagship. The catamaran is still powered through solar energy panels but is substantially different to the preceding model inasmuch as it now boasts new larger interior volumes. The San Lorenzo shipyard in La Spezia served as a perfect backdrop on June 26th for the launching event of the new 62 Steel superyacht which is 61.50 metres long with a gross tonnage of 1,200 gross tons. Why is it that a test tank or basin can’t be less than a football pitch and the little “models” used for R&D are 4.5 metres long and more at times? Wouldn’t things be easier and cheaper to test 50 cm models in a tank which is the size of a swimming pool?
