The global Covid-19 pandemic that has, since 2020, changed the way we live, work and play, has altered education in South Africa.
Severe disruptions to academic years have caused pupils and students to stay at home for extended periods or attend classes on a rotational basis, while entire curriculums have had to be overhauled.
Incredibly, many organisations have managed to overcome disruptions by going the extra mile for pupils, employing blended, or hybrid, learning strategies, though their implementation has been more difficult in South Africa, due to pupils struggling to access digital tools and data services.
Fortunately, bodies such as the Datatec Educational and Technology Foundation, that funds educational organisations serving underprivileged communities across South Africa, have been able to provide some pupils with these technologies during the pandemic.
