The first couple of months of the year bring exciting new beginnings; it’s a chance to reflect on the year before and try new things in the months ahead. For me, I’m thrilled to be embarking on a house renovation with my partner. When the dirty jobs are done and the dust has settled, I’ll get to work filling the interiors with my favourite furnishings and accessories. I’m particularly inspired by the denim decor ideas that Cassie has found this issue (p76) and one or two of Laurie’s shopping buys on page 8 will definitely feature. I’m a big fan of geometric patterns and have fallen in love with Emily’s living room (p86) – so much so, I just had to put it on the cover! You’ve been telling me…
Becky Greenaway ABOUT ME I’m 26, and I live with my boyfriend Jack, 27, in a three-bed semi-detached house in Walsall. WHAT WOULD YOU HAVE DONE DIFFERENTLY? I would reprioritise the order in which we renovated our house – rather than spending money on having our living room fireplace built, we would first have invested in getting our bathroom done up! Bernadette Brown ABOUT ME I’m 48 and I live with my husband Darren, 47, and children Lucina, 18, and Joshua, 15, in a four-bed detached in Northamptonshire. WHAT’S YOUR BEST MONEY-SAVING TIP? Don’t be quick to throw things away – you might find you can reuse them, or sell them if not. Also, plan ahead and consider when sales are on throughout the year. Samantha Mason ABOUT ME I’m…

MY HOME... ABOUT ME I’m Lucy Tortise, 35. I live with my husband James, 30, our son Freddie, 4, and we’re expecting our second child later this year. MY HOME A 1930s two-bedroom semi in Solihull, West Midlands, which we bought in 2011. WHEN I BOUGHT IT I was worried about the lack of space for a family home and all of the rooms needed updating. The wallpaper needed to be stripped and the kitchen space wasn’t practical for us. AND NOW The house feels very light and airy for a small two-bedroom property and it’s the perfect space for entertaining. STYLE TIP Work with your own style and don’t try to follow trends. Have fun experimenting with ideas and don’t overthink it too much. GREAT IDEA ‘Try Etsy for…
GO SURFING Lucy buys a lot of her furniture through eBay shops or similar sites. Find the item you like elsewhere then search for it online to save time and money. OUTDOORS IN Follow Lucy’s lead and decorate with foliage to bring an element of nature into your styling. Try MiaFleur for pretty faux foliage and artificial blooms, as well as stylish containers. OFF THE WALL Love the wall stickers as an alternative to wallpaper? Try Oakdene Designs for a wide range of children’s wall stickers from as little as £5. COPPER CRUSH Lucy’s metallic candle holders and desk lamp are right on-trend this season. Try Oliver Bonas for a great selection of copper accessories; we’re loving their Tiggy side table, £55. KEEP IT CLASSIC If, like Lucy, you’re looking…
