In the previous article, we brought the truck down to a respectable height and installed a new big brake setup (ST June 2017, “Dropping a Square,” pg. 108). Since we used parts from Classic Performance Products (CPP) for our lowering kit and big brake kit, the company’s products were the obvious choice for our steering upgrade. When Lightning Strikes Twice THIS CUSTOM ’52 FORD F-1 TAKES A CLASSIC TRENDSETTER AND REMAINS TRUE TO THAT LEGACY, MIXING INNOVATION WITH PARTS FROM A 2002 FORD LIGHTNING FOR A 1952 BODY STYLE WITH A 5.4L SUPERCHARGED ENGINE. Owned and built almost entirely by Ryan Reid, with help from friend Carl Crowe, this beauty has taken two years of nights and weekends to complete. The F-1 frame was kept—fully boxed and reinforced—while they transplanted parts from the Lightning, starting with the 5.4L Ford Triton supercharged V-8.
