First auction of ‘Traveller Collection’
On 20 May, the first auction of the ‘Traveller Collection’ was held in Zurich by Numismatica Ars Classica, in association with David Guest Numismatics. Focusing on 220 machine-struck British coins from the period 1663–1937, this auction realised a total of CHF6,341,200 (£5,730,574), doubling its initial estimate of CHF2,989,700 ($2,701,807).
The Traveller Collection is the most valuable collection of coins ever sold at auction (with an insurance value in excess of $100 million).
