Collectors can’t get enough Babe Ruth. So when an authenticated cut signature penned by the Sultan of Swat hits the auction block, it draws frenzied bidding. That was the case when an eBay seller listed a Donruss 2005 Signature Stamps card of Ruth. This 1-of-1 insert includes not only a clean and authenticated Ruth autograph on a stamp, but it offers a uniform patch. The signature is rare enough on its own—it’s inked on a 2-cent 1934 Philippine Islands stamp. The patch goes a long way in upping the ante (and bidding): It’s cut from a Ruth game-worn jersey. Just when you thought Bedard mania couldn’t get any bigger, here comes his Young Guns card. In what many have already deemed one of the biggest card releases in hobby history, the much-anticipated March 6 release of Upper Deck Series 2 Hockey had collectors rushing to their nearest hobby shop for a chance of pulling Connor Bedard’s coveted Young Guns card. “I’ve got basketball collectors wanting hockey. Baseball fans are wanting hockey. Everyone wants a Connor Bedard,” said Ronnie Holloway, owner of Elite Sports Cards and Comics in Chicago.
