Pending as the all-tackle record, this 13-pound, 3-ounce snubnose pompano [A] caught by Russian angler Ilya Sherbovich went for a well-placed crab fly in the Seychelles this past February. After a 12-minute fight, the pompano (in the same genus as permits) was quickly weighed, documented, photographed, and released alive and healthy. The current record is 11 pounds, 3 ounces.
