Spiced Pomegranate Apple Cider
MAKES 8 TO 10 SERVINGS
2 quarts apple cider1½ quarts pomegranate juice1 cup maple syrup4 cinnamon sticks1 large orange (about 10 ounces), halved1 vanilla bean, split, seeds scraped and reserved1 teaspoon whole cloves⅛ teaspoon freshly grated nutmegGarnish: fresh apple slices, fresh orange slices
1. In a large Dutch oven, stir together cider, juice, and next 6 ingredients. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Reduce heat to medium-low; simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
2. Strain mixture; discard any solids. Divide evenly between mugs. Garnish with apple and orange, if desired.
